I am at that point in the year when I’m starting to think about the books I will be writing next year.
Apart from the Sidney Stone Private Investigator series that I’ve just begun writing (along with S.J. Wells) and publishing, most of my other series are a few years old now.
Take Darcy Sweet for example. I released the first book in that series at the end of 2013 so it has been going for quite a few years now. I know this series is still very popular and I enjoy writing it. I believe that there are still a lot of stories that Darcy needs to tell but lately, I have been wondering about when I should start writing about Colby’s life because I think it’s going to be really interesting, maybe even more interesting than Darcy’s, if her abilities at this stage are anything to go by.
And then we have my other series of books – Pine Lake Inn and Cookie and Cream which have had a few stories told now but I think probably have some more to be told. And then we have The Kilorian Sisters (also with S.J. Wells) which is a fairly new series compared to the others. I think that there are probably several more stories to tell there also.
And then we come to Moonlight Bay. Unfortunately Kathryn De Winter has declined to write anymore of these with me and has more or less hung up her writers hat for the foreseeable future because of personal family issues. So if anymore of these books were to be written I would be the sole author. I’m not sure I really want to take on that responsibility.
I wonder if perhaps my time could be better spent writing something new. I have a lot of ideas for new series that I’d really like to get onto the page. I’ve got some really great characters banging around in my head just waiting for the chance to tell their stories.
And that is what has brought me to write this post today.
Before I decide what to do for sure I thought I would survey my readers and just ask what you think.
